# Murmly

> Murmly is a voice recorder and AI transcription app for iOS, iPadOS, Android, macOS, Apple Watch and Wear OS. It records meetings, calls, lectures, interviews and voice notes and turns them into a transcript, a summary, a hierarchical outline and a list of speakers, using OpenAI's Whisper-1. Recordings are stored only on the user's own device.

- Price: the app is free to download. Recording, transcription and analysis consume prepaid
  credit ("tokens") bought as you go; tokens never expire and there is no subscription.
- Free trial: 0.40 token — roughly one hour of recording, transcription and analysis — is
  credited when a new user verifies their email address (not merely on sign-up).
- Transcription languages: any. The spoken language is detected automatically and the
  transcript, summary, outline and speaker labels come back in that same language.
- App interface languages: Italian and English.
- Recording limits: up to 4 hours in a single file from phone, tablet or Mac; up to 60
  minutes from Apple Watch or Wear OS, because watch operating systems suspend background apps.
- Privacy: audio files and transcripts stay on the device that recorded them. They are never
  uploaded to, copied to or kept on any server or cloud. For transcription the audio is sent
  to the engine only for as long as it takes to produce the text, is not retained afterwards
  and is not used to train AI models. Sensitive content is encrypted at rest (AES-256) and can
  be locked behind Face ID / Touch ID / fingerprint.
- macOS exclusive — "Dictation everywhere": start dictation in Murmly, then click into any
  other app (Word, a browser, Mail) and each sentence is transcribed and typed at the cursor.
  It is macOS-only because iOS and Android do not let one app type into another.
- Recording calls or system audio is supported where the platform allows it; the user is
  responsible for having the right to record and for informing the people involved.
